A wellness footwear startup gets its mobile app MVP back on track

2025-2026

MYKOOD is a consumer tech startup creating app-connected wellness shoes with customizable vibration features controlled through a cross-platform mobile app. The product had already gained early market validation through a successful Kickstarter campaign, but the mobile app still needed a clear path to MVP after a difficult experience with a previous development team.
With physical product manufacturing timelines ahead, the founder needed more than app development. He needed a team that could define a realistic core scope, organize the design and delivery process, and validate the Bluetooth-connected app with the real device before the next product stage.
THE CHALLENGE
MYKOOD needed to turn a connected footwear idea into a focused MVP without overbuilding the first release
The main challenge was not only to build a mobile app but also to decide what the first version should include so it could support the real product experience and remain realistic within the available timeline. MYKOOD needed a roadmap that would integrate product priorities, user experience, device interactions, and delivery constraints into a single, clear plan before design and development could move forward.
Turning a broad product vision into a focused first release
MYKOOD’s product idea included a physical wellness shoe, a mobile interface, and connected functionality. The first step was to separate the core experience from features that could wait for future versions. The MVP had to stay focused on what users needed first: understand the app, interact with the footwear experience, and test the main value of the product without unnecessary complexity.
Planning around a physical product timeline
The app roadmap had to match the reality of working with a physical device. Design, development, QA, and testing could not be planned in isolation, because the software had to be ready for validation with the footwear product. This made prioritization critical: every feature decision had to be measured against the deadline, technical effort, and launch readiness.
Preparing the app for real Bluetooth device validation
The mobile app had to work as part of a connected product experience, not just as a set of finished screens. MYKOOD’s footwear included two Bluetooth-enabled devices that had to be recognized as a left and right pair, connected reliably, and controlled through simple app interactions. Before the product could move to the next stage, the team had to make sure the MVP could support real device behavior, user actions, possible connection scenarios, and stability during testing.

Head of Delivery at Kultprosvet
MYKOOD came to us with a strong product vision and a clear launch ambition. Our role was to turn that vision into a practical MVP roadmap: define the core scope, structure the design and development process, and validate the app with the real product. The collaboration worked well because decisions were made quickly, feedback was clear, and both sides stayed focused on building a first version that could create real value and become a foundation for future growth.
THE PROCESS
After defining the main project constraints, Kultprosvet organized the work around one priority: deliver the first app version that MYKOOD could use to validate the core product experience. Instead of expanding the feature list, the team focused on the flows, screens, and technical logic needed for MVP readiness.
MVP scope prioritization:
We worked with the client to define the first release around the most important product actions. Each feature was reviewed through the same lens: whether it was needed for the initial user experience, product testing, and launch preparation. This helped keep the MVP focused and prevented the project from turning into a larger product build before validation.
User flow and interaction logic:
Before designing the interface, we structured the user journey inside the app. The team mapped how users would move from onboarding to product interaction, where instructions had to be clear, and which actions needed to feel simple from the first use. This gave the design and development teams a shared product logic before implementation started.
UI/UX design for a connected product:
The design team created an interface that helped users understand the product without additional explanation. The focus was on clear screens, simple controls, and a mobile experience that supported the physical product instead of competing with it.

The best design is invisible and seamless. Our mission was to build an app so intuitive that interacting with your sneakers feels completely natural and effortless.
BLE-enabled MVP development:
Once the scope and design direction were approved, the development team moved into building the cross-platform mobile MVP. The app had to support Bluetooth communication with the smart shoes, recognize the left and right footwear devices, and translate simple user controls into device commands for the connected product experience. The team kept development structured through clear priorities, short delivery steps, and regular progress visibility for the client.
QA, mock testing, and real-device checks:
Before moving the MVP to the next stage, we tested the main app flows, usability, connection behavior, and product interaction logic. Since the app depended on physical footwear devices, QA included both real-device checks and simulated testing scenarios. This helped the team continue validation even when physical prototypes were limited and reduced the risk of issues appearing later in the product journey.

Despite its apparent simplicity, the project presented several technical challenges, particularly in relation to Bluetooth connectivity. However, it was a very interesting experience, and we successfully overcame them.
THE RESULT
MYKOOD received a mobile MVP ready for product validation
Kultprosvet delivered the first working version of the MYKOOD mobile app and helped the client move from uncertain product development to a product stage where the app could be reviewed, tested, and used as a foundation for future growth. The MVP gave MYKOOD a practical software base for its connected footwear experience instead of another unfinished development attempt.
The first UI concept was prepared in one week
Within the first week, MYKOOD received a UI concept that helped the founder see how the app could work as a real product experience. This made product discussions more concrete and helped the team move faster from idea-level conversations to approved design and development decisions.

Account Executive at Kultprosvet
Beyond the technical work, our biggest goal was to give the client a sense of relief. After zero real delivery, broken communication, and no transparency from a previous provider, he came in exhausted. Our responsibility was not only to build the product, but to rebuild his confidence through education and transparency at every step. Seeing him finally free of constant worry became the foundation for a truly productive partnership.
The MVP reached readiness in five weeks
The project moved from planning to MVP readiness in five weeks. This result was especially important because the software work had to support the client’s broader launch preparation and stay aligned with the timeline of the physical product.
The app became available on both iOS and Android
MYKOOD received a cross-platform mobile MVP prepared for both iOS and Android users. This gave the client a stronger foundation for product validation, launch activities, and future growth as a consumer-connected product brand.
The application is now available on the App Store and Google Play, showing that the project has moved beyond internal development and has become a real mobile product that users can access.
100% of critical MVP flows were tested
Before the app moved to the next stage, Kultprosvet checked all critical flows defined for the MVP. This helped the client reduce product risks and continue with a version that had already passed the most important usability and functionality checks.
The client regained trust in the development process
One of the strongest results was not only the delivered app, but the client’s renewed confidence. After a difficult previous experience, MYKOOD needed a partner who could communicate clearly, explain decisions, and make progress visible. Kultprosvet helped the founder feel that the product was finally in good hands.
The result was not limited to a working mobile app. MYKOOD also needed the software to support a real product moving toward production. These factory photos show the physical side of the connected footwear experience the MVP was built around.
